Taxonomy is the backbone of our digital experiences. Without proper attention, iteration, collaboration and ongoing maintenance, our search, browse and overall findability is not possible. Changes in inventory, market and competitive surveillance and responses to member feedback impact the digital taxonomy. We need the ability to respond to the ever changing market conditions to make Sears, Kmart and Marketplace products easily findable for our members. Taxonomy is the basis for all of this work.

The Taxonomist will be responsible for both identifying, analyzing and resolving taxonomy issues and resolve Jira’s presented by colleagues by participating in major projects such as a redesign of a vertical or improvement of label groups across the taxonomy. The ideal candidate will have taxonomy experience and appreciate general best practices. Initially this position will focus on taxonomy maintenance, however the expectation is that this individual will be capable of adding work in strategy oriented activities.
