The Product Manager (Kenmore grills and floor care products) is responsible for delivering value added solutions that meet target customers’ needs as well as the organization’s revenue and profit requirements. This is a dynamic role, spanning product and business development with vendors and key retail partners. As the category’s product leader and subject-matter expert, the Product Manager is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and translating product, consumer, and competitive trends into assortment/merchandising strategies that align with the overall Kenmore Brand Architecture/Strategy. The Product Manager will execute the strategy by developing and maintaining 3-year product roadmaps, innovation pipelines, and marketing claims. In addition, the Product Manager serves as the category’s business leader ensuring healthy, productive relationships with customers and vendors and the financial success of their respective category. The Product Manager is the owner, creator, and executor of an annual sales plan and is accountable for delivering forecasted financial outcomes. The role is responsible for developing detailed product description documents/business plans defining the: strategic fit, value proposition, differentiating features, success factors, and go-to-market strategy. While the product manager serves as the category captain and influences every aspect of the product life-cycle including: sourcing, terms negotiation, research, design, engineering, marketing, and sales; they are supported by a team of dedicated experts in each functional area.


Product Strategy and Creation:
  • Creative thinking and fortitude to ideate, develop, inspire, and execute innovative products, solutions, and services. with specific interest and passion for connected home products (e.g. any consumer product utilizing RF technology to increase user’s experience around their home life)
  • Experience developing and launching connected home products (use case and value proposition creation).
  • Track record of launching differentiated value propositions backed by innovation that end users find meaningful and result in higher sales volume or margin.
  • Own your category.
    • Know the competitive landscape better than everyone else in the room. Create and maintain competitive landscape database.
    • Analyze and interpret industry market data, sales data, and both qualitative and quantitative consumer insights data to:
      • Identify category needs and gaps and inform 3 year product roadmaps
      • Define what is most important to a target demographic to inform product architecture
      • Make feature trade-off and product assortment decisions
  • Manage product launch initiatives utilizing a stage-gate system ensuring project timelines are maintained.
  • Experience launching IOT/Smart products and application use cases.
  • Cross-functional leader driving strategy development and execution and making day-to-day product decisions alongside counterparts with respect to: line planning, feature requirements, performance requirements, quality requirements, product designs, promotional planning, claims development, marketing launch plans (digital, in-store, print, and packaging material development).
Relationship Management
  • Vendor Management - Maintain healthy, productive, mutually beneficial relationships with manufacturing partners. Leverage retail and customer insights and scale to influence capital expenditures that support Kenmore’s Product Architecture/Product Strategy. Negotiate contract terms including: first cost, resource commitments, exclusive feature commitments, product quality, promotional support, etc.
  • Sales/Account Management – Manage expectations and gain strategy & product launch alignment with Merchants to maximize Kenmore balance of sale, Sears and Kenmore market share growth, and annual financial forecasts.
  • Inter Business Unit Management – Work effectively in a matrix environment with other Business Units to ensure alignment to common goals and initiatives.
Business Management
  • Develop, forecast, and execute annual sales plan generated through new product launch initiatives. Also, present business plans for new project ideas/initiatives to senior executives and leaders.
  • Responsible for the presentation of product lines to Sears Merchants and potential external retail partners.
  • The ability to construct and communicate concise, convincing stories via Power Point to achieve desired alignment or outcome.
  • Communication skills – the ability to clearly and efficiently ascertain customer/vendor needs and articulate arguments to influence desired outcomes and gain alignment.
  • Experienced negotiator – the ability to negotiate first costs, terms, and program support.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute creative solutions to complex problems, strategic conflicts, and tactical dilemmas.
  • Business analysis skills – creating and interpreting sales reports and market data/research to identify trends and develop short and long-term strategy.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Business (Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics, etc.), Marketing, or Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • 4+ years of proven success in product management of consumer goods.
  • Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint – Good to Excellent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires up to 30% travel –domestic and international.
