The Manager of Business Strategy is responsible for developing and planning execution of change-management initiatives focused on optimizing, growing, and transforming the Grocery, Drugstore, and Pharmacy businesses. This position initiates and then leads efforts that (a) generate new business insights from available data sources, (b) use those insights as basis for generating new business initiatives, and (c) partners with stakeholders to develop action-oriented implementation plans that will enable success of initiatives and achieving associated 2018 business impact for the business unit and Sears Holdings.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develops Business Unit strategies & plans that lead to member-driven growth outcomes
  • Initiates new insight development efforts which could span the identification/development of new data sources to applying new insight development approaches to existing data
  • Performs financial modeling and scenario development driving strategy recommendations
  • Develops and implements analytic tools that support core category business planning
  • Initiates and oversees business transforming initiatives from concept, through testing, to final implementation leveraging best in class project management methodology
  • Identify critical path to completion, project risks, and proactively problem solve with immediate team members and relevant internal stakeholders to course correct.
  • Create and maintain detailed program documentation, with emphasis on standardization and repeatable processes for Grocery/Drug/Rx initiatives to scale from pilot to Format

Job Requirements:
  • 2-5 years of related experience in a strategic / consulting / entrepreneurial role
  • Experience developing business cases with financial models & implementation plans
  • Prior experience with project management or PMO-role function
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with a great attention to detail
  • Proven organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Skills:
  • 5 years of professional experience
  • Retail Background, such as Buying/Category Management
  • Strategic Planning / Merchandising Analytics / Consumer Research and Insights
  • Strong business acumen with ability to evaluate program impact and program health
  • Superior written and oral communications skills, including ability to develop and deliver effective presentations several levels up.
  • High-level of motivation and self-direction
  • Project Management / Program Management experience
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Strategic Thinker
