The Manager of Trade Planning opportunity has been created to funnel all Trade Plan Calendars to a single source, and also provide a technological support to the teams creating a living trade plan calendar that works between all of the trade calendars. The goal is to eliminate redundancy of work and miscommunication to expectations of what programs are running. Given the localized focus for marketing efforts going forward, the increase in volume of changes and plans is guaranteed.

In this role you will be expected to do the following:
  • Manage development of Sears and Kmart Trade Calendars, taking guidance from format leadership and business units. Gather data and align teams through weekly meetings with BUs, channel partners and member team.
  • Place storytelling in Trade Calendars following quarterly strategy meetings with format team and business units. Recommend key merchandising categories of relevance to the merchant teams.
  • Plan and execute format events with marketing leadership alignment.
    • Execute promotions for members with direction from our Member team. Request proformas to gain business unit alignment.
    • Provide input for business briefs to include prioritization of messaging and partner with IMX to execute event.
    • Communicate event to channel partners as well as Retail Services.
    • Conduct post mortem with feedback from format and business unit teams as input to future event planning.
  • Oversee execution of messaging and prioritization of messages across all channels.
  • Assess current business and articulate the value proposition and key messaging for each category. Continually refine to optimize proposition against competitive and customer context.
  • Review, and initiate when necessary, market research to anticipate competition and market trends and translate consumer attitudes into new directions. Stay on top of all data sources for the retail category, competitive and customer information.
  • Coordinate and align category marketing plans with brand strategy and category promotional plans.
  • Analyze program results and present recommendations for changes in strategy

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in Business or Marketing is required
  • 2-5 years' experience in marketing planning and execution.
  • Retail Marketing experience across various channels and multiple disciplines of traditional and digital marketing.
  • Experience with calendar management, event planning and agency interaction preferred.
  • Experience with development and implementation of the budgeting process and creating, developing and managing a business calendar is a plus.
