Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating or assisting in the purchase of learning materials that help develop the talent required for Sears to become a high performance company and contribute to the talent management process. This position will handle communication, implementation plans and decks for non-learning objectives that are specific to business management support.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Works with project teams to conduct training needs within the assigned population
  • Works with project teams to identify and describe characteristics of the assigned population
  • Creates design documents that specify learning objectives, learning strategies, learning materials, design specifications, measures of student learning, and learning impact (i.e., business results)
  • Designs and develops materials to support both facilitators and participants in various delivery channels, taking account of adult learning principles, including design of eLearning solutions using interactive online learning models and taking account of adult learning principles to deliver online training in an effective manner
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional programs by creating evaluation components to track outcomes and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Oversees consultant and Vendor course design and development efforts as needed
  • Selects and modifies existing instructional materials, as well as develop new instructional materials
  • Plans and manages instruction design projects using internal or Vendor resources, including accountability for budget, product, and resources
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Working knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), authorizing software, Dreamweaver, Flash Fireworks, or Adobe Photoshop
  • Instruction design and development skills, including needs analysis, systematic instructional graphic design and visual support, evaluation, and impact assessment
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
