The Head of Technology will oversee the development and implementation of technologies that enhance our member experience and the company’s ability to serve members through advanced analytics, simplified real-time processes, and knowledge sharing across the company.

As a leader at Sears, the Head of Technology ensures that technology strategies fit within the framework of the larger enterprise including: member experience, member strategies, and company financial goals. We are looking for a best-in-class leader who would thrive in an environment where he/she is given a clear mandate to transform how the company operates today

Job Requirements

Strategic Planning
• Takes company and business unit strategies and identifies the technology strategies that enable them. Not only thinks about current strategies and tactics in the business, but integrates the flexibility the business may need for the future.
• Develops technology strategies balancing company needs, business needs, and infrastructure and technology needs.
• Clearly articulates strategy to SHC leadership team.
• Identifies emerging technologies, assesses their applicability to the business and develops proposals for applying new technology solutions. Participates in academic and industry groups to promote the company's reputation in technology and to capture valuable insights.

• Demonstrates the stick-to-itiveness to lead the organization from Strategic Plan to Successful Implementation

Business Partner, Project and Resource Management
•Develops superior business partner management capabilities with SHC business leaders. Positions technology team to be a value-added partner to the business. Emphasis is placed on getting the right outcome for the business.
•Develops strong project management disciplines including: process to evaluate potential technology projects with the correct stakeholders against the correct criteria, an ongoing project tracking process that balances the agility needed to deliver high quality solutions with the need to keep relevant stakeholders informed of progress and cost, and methodologies to adapt the project portfolio to changing business needs. Reviews and ensures program and project plans will achieve the desired aspirational results via a logical and stepped approach, as needed.
•Implements a comprehensive resource management structure that clearly identifies the quantity, quality and capabilities of resources available across SHC and its partners for technology work.

•Sets standards for technology development, quality and deployment that balance quality, speed to market and cost for the optimal outcomes in the circumstances.

Infrastructure and Security
•Ensures that the company's operating environment enables technology and business processes and risks from outages and security threats are minimized to the extent possible.

Third Party Partnerships
•Effectively develops and manages third party partnerships for the benefit of the company. Has strong knowledge of partners' strengths and opportunities.
•Strong negotiator that can leverage SHC scale to ensure the company is getting the best deals available from partners.

Organizational Leadership
•Able to strike a balance between rule-favoring and rule-questioning. Attain a middle point between obsessing over the rules and breaking every guideline.

•Motivates, inspires, catalyzes and leads the organization through the organizational change management process on strategic projects as Change Leader or Change Agent when required.

Team Leadership
•Hires and develops a high-performance team. Sets, communicates and adheres to high performance standards and takes decisive action with under-performers and continually recognizes and rewards superior performance. Builds future leaders for key positions.
•Has an ongoing process to evaluate technical skill sets against needs and reskill or evolve organization as necessary aligned with changes in technology?
•Drives compliance and standards with processes, policies and tools within the group.
•Establishes and maintains an organizational culture that supports a propensity for action and strong individual ownership for solving business challenges to drive results.
•Embraces the leadership philosophy in which the main goal of the leader is to serve. Demonstrates an ability to empower their team to succeed, assist in removing roadblocks and coach / teach their team to ensure success.
