DVP, Deputry General Counsel (DGC) is a member of the Hometown executive team and must be an active participant from both a legal and business perspective. The DGC will be expected to provide critical legal counseling and support to senior management and other business persons with respect to a variety of corporate, transactional, finance, real estate, intellectual property and commercial matters that arise from the day-to-day operations of the company. DGC is responsible for managing all litigation matters from beginning to end, and providing weekly updates to COO on each matter, which must include recommnedations on how to proceed and a realistic expense estimate.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Providing practical legal advice that furthers business strategies/objectives
• Advising on commercial law matters, including contract drafting and dealer and franchisee relations, real estate, and general regulatory matters
• Drafting and negotiating contracts for the real estate leasing transactions and related term sheets and letters of intent
• Managing litigation
• Resolving regulatory inquiries and investigations
• Advising the business on compliance issues
• Alerting the business to legal and legislative developments
• Directing and conducting legal due-diligence efforts
• Resolving pre-litigation disputes
• Managing legal and business risks

Required Skills:
• J.D. Degree from an ABA-accredited law school and 7-10 years of relatable experience
• Strong working knowledge in broad areas of the law including general business and commercial laws, dealer and franchise laws, and consumer protection laws as well as litigation management experience
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a legal project leader
• Experience working effectively with senior-level management
• Ability to quickly and accurately recognize areas of risk and opportunity
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong customer-service orientation
• Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills, superior customer service acumen and the ability to interact well with all levels of the organization
• Quickly able to assess business and legal risks
