Job Summary

The position is responsible for leading the outbound Transportation function for all SHC. The position develops and executes the implementation of strategic and tactical policies and procedures within transportation, ensuring alignment with Sears Holdings corporate strategy and business.

Job Requirements


• Manage a freight budget of $200M in transportation services.
• Establish operations strategy and policy in alignment with Sears Holdings corporate strategy.
• Oversee the execution of transportation objectives by all Sears Holdings distribution centers.
• Accountable for cost and service analysis to support policy definition and day-to-day decisions.
• Lead efforts and staff in defining store delivery strategy, cost management, expediting shipments, carrier performance, and all studies with in the outbound logistics channel.
• Identify business requirements for information systems.
• Lead and support development of procedures that support Sears Holdings corporate strategy.
• Represent Sears Holdings Transportation and mange relationships with carriers and supply chain partners.
• Negotiate with carriers on operational issues, service levels, equipment requirements.
• Work with and collaborate with distribution centers and store operations on scheduling, and with the vertical businesses on level of service and performance metrics

Skill/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent.
• Minimum of ten (8) years of experience in Transportation.
• Proven leadership skills as well as motivational skills.
• In depth knowledge of the supply chain as well as in depth logistics knowledge.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing the transportation industry.
• Ability to think strategically envisioning the evolution of the industry and our customers.
• Expertise in continuous improvement and productivity measurements.
