The Category Manager II, Procurement is responsible for contract management, strategic sourcing/procurement (under the guidance of the Director, Marketing & Print Procurement) of major regional or national marketing & printing service agreements in support of the marketing efforts of Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC). Much of this work will be team driven across multiple business functions. The key objective of this position is to develop, implement and effectively manage relevant supply bases to minimize cost while ensuring required service quality and supplier performance, and maintaining a high degree of customer (business unit) satisfaction.

This position interacts with various levels of management (to Director level) of SHC including Marketing, Advertising, Legal, Customer Experience, Store Operations, Home Services, Environmental, Human Resources and Risk Management areas.

Job Requirements

  • Develop and manage the execution of initiatives (across functions) as directed by Director Marketing & Print Procurement, including data gathering and analysis, business requirements development, supplier qualification, preparation of Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Request for Quotation (RFQs), Invitation to Bid (ITBs) evaluation of responses, preparation of recommendations to business customers, and contract negotiations.
  • Independently seek out and develop opportunities for process improvement.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding regarding service offerings, as well as emerging industry trends/product developments, that impact the company's business lines and functions.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with business customers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to maximize their value to SHC.
  • 2-5 years in management of procurement/strategic sourcing in printing services
  • Proven organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in negotiations and complex sourcing transactions
  • Knowledge of contract fundamentals, ability to effectively interact with SHC legal counsel
  • Ability to quickly gather and analyze data, and grasp customer requirements under time constraints in a changing environment
  • Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment; solid interpersonal skills and ability to effectively represent the Procurement function internally and externally
  • Excellent mathematical and technical aptitude: fluency in MS Excel, Word mandatory; Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project fluency a major plus
  • Superior written and oral communications skills, including ability to develop and deliver effective presentations two levels up
  • High motivation, positive, can-do attitude, requiring little or minimal supervision
  • Impeccable ethics and Ability to keep and maintain confidential and secure records and information
  • BA / BS degree or equivalent
  • Working knowledge basic accounting concepts and e-Procurement systems (Ariba) a plus
