The Architect, System provides support for a 24x7x365 from Level 3 and above to infrastructure environment. This position works closely with other Infrastructure engineers in order to support and maintain a stable environment for the Sears OBU environments.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

•Leads the analysis, design and development of enterprise systems and programs with business and technical teams
•Leads architectural and design reviews across functional domains and teams
•Contributes to the intellectual property holdings of SHC
•Directly engages with customers/partners to help them understand the design objectives and architecture of the feature areas
•Effectively articulates the key design principles for the feature areas to the immediate team and upper management
•Leads and mentors other engineers in technical solutions
•Monitors and resolves all level three issues escalated from lower levels.
•Works with Project Managers to gather project requirements and find appropriate fulfillment solutions for clients. Attends the calls with project managers and business units to answer technology questions and recommend the right technology for the client solution.
•Resolves critical systems problems in a timely manner and provides a proactive method resolution so the same problem will not occur twice
•Interfaces with other Engineers for clarification or verification of standards, answering general help/how-to requests, and handling other internal escalations
•Provides representation of upcoming changes or task work on Change Advisory Board meetings and other Operations calls
•Handles any and every SysEng task or issue not covered by a lower level team member
•Configures, tests, and maintains AIX/Linux environment and related services
•Provides systems administration services on p-Series hardware and software components across multiple AIX (Unix) platforms as well as HP hardware and primarily the DL and BL series, WebSphere, applications, and DB2 database technologies.
•Proactively researches and drives enhancements and fixes for site and user issues
•Utilizes third-party and custom monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve problems with systems, applications, and networks.
•Coordinates any level three issues, when need additional support is required, with vendors, development staff, business partners and escalation support teams
•Executes all aspects of site planned and unplanned maintenance activities

Job Requirements:

•Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related technical or scientific field, or equivalent experience
•8+ years of professional related experience
•Has played a technical leadership role (Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer) in at least one other organization, company or capacity.
•Strong knowledge of OSI design including extensive utilization of design patterns.
•Ability to mentor and recruit junior system engineers & enforce good engineering practices like encapsulation, composition, continuous integration & test driven technical environments.
•Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools
•Participation through completion of multiple releases of a complex project
•Must be available to support in a 24x7 production environment, and be willing to work shifts on a rotating or on-call basis
•Strong knowledge in Linux 6.1 and above
•Strong knowledge in UNIX
•Strong Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Perl.
