The Manager, Environmental Affairs is the Environmental Affairs Office's primary point of contact with environmental regulatory agencies regarding environmental inspections, permits and reporting requirements . The Manager, Environmental Affairs exercises independent judgement while working directly with regulatory agencies to prepare and seek approval for regulatory reports, permit applications and resolves issues associated with environmental inspections at SHC facilities. The Manager, Environmental Affairs will manage environmental due diligence, site assessments and remedial action projects. The Manager, Environmental Affairs will work closely with the Director, Environmental Affairs; law department attorneys, as well as associates in a variety of SHC business units.

Job Requirements

•Prepares and submits environmental regulatory reports that may be required by federal, state and local regulatory agencies and other stakeholders, both within and outside of the company, and analyzes environmental information contained within reports to assure best management practices.
•Manages the environmental remediation program and associated environmental reserve accounts.
•Manages the environmental due diligence program and assessment/management of environmental risks
•Analyzes proposed/upcoming regulatory reporting requirements so Environmental Affairs can plan appropriately and advise SHC management.
•Maintains, evaluates and analyzes environmental regulatory reporting data in the SHC Environmental Management System database and various state databases to help streamline processes and minimize costs
•Analyzes regulatory reporting and deficiency data to help identify area trends and make process improvements.
•Acts as a liaison with Field and Home Office personnel in various SHC businesses to identify changes in the business practices/operations that might affect environmental compliance and/or reporting.
•Supports Law Department, Real Estate Department and other corporate departments and business units regarding environmental risks and compliance responsibilities.
•Consults and negotiates with regulators to assess and address environmental regulatory reporting and compliance issues.
•Researches environmental history of SHC facilities and advises businesses on regulatory responsibilities based on findings.
•Receives and responds to store inquiries regarding environmental regulatory compliance issues.
•Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
•Bachelor's Level Degree or higher in engineering, science, applied science or environmental management required.
•Five to ten years experience in corporate environmental compliance, environmental compliance consulting, due diligence, remediation and risk assessment preferred.
•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
•Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple projects with minimal supervision.
•Able to interpret and provide advice and business recommendations regarding complex environmental regulations.
•Results-oriented, team player who takes initiative.
