Job Summary:
The District General Manager is responsible to provide clear support for the company’s broader goals through effective leadership of store management teams. Accountable for owning and delivering the following key results:
Profit - Deliver profitable contribution through sales, margin and expense control. Responsible for creation of Local Store Profit Plans.
Member Experience - Drive Retail Excellence and Store Standards through consistent execution of all core processes. Develop Member Relationships through understanding and meeting member needs. Leverage I/R Capabilities to deliver enhanced Member experience.
Leading Change - Drive continuous improvement within the district and operating model. Be a champion of the Transformation.
Develop Leadership - Cultivate high performing teams through ongoing performance management. Develop leaders of the future.

Scope of Responsibility:
Responsible to provide clear support for the company’s broader goals through effective leadership of store management teams to deliver profitable contribution, exceed member expectations, lead effective change and develop leadership capabilities.

Job Requirements:
• Multi-store management skills (Softlines, Marketing, Hardlines, Operations, and Human Resources)
• Knowledge of financial operations and processes; analytical skills to diagnose root cause and implement solutions.
• Leadership skills in selecting, assessing, coaching, and developing managerial talent, preferably in a retail environment. Excellent team building skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships internally and externally.
• Effective communication skills and ability to influence others and lead change; interpersonal savvy.
• Strong technological aptitude; knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite and current technological trends.
Preferred Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and skill in identifying root cause and making data-driven decisions.

• Experience in managing merchandising activities.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Profit - Accountable for delivering profitable contribution through driving sales initiatives, improving overall gross margin, and optimizing expense controls while identifying fiscal opportunities for their district.
• Profit - Responsible for Store General Managers to create and successfully achieve Local Store Profit Plans while initiating local opportunities that are customized to their community to drive additional sales opportunities while improving margin and expense control.
• Members - Achieves delivery of a "wow" member experience in all stores, focused on understanding members' specific needs and offering them the right products and services. Provides our members with a simplified way to live their life better. Become a Brand Ambassador within the community to continually understand and meet our members needs and gain market share.
• Members - Understand and partner with your store leaders to develop plans to both meet and exceed the needs of our Best 5K Members.
• Members - Reinforces a selling culture throughout all Stores focused on understanding and meeting member needs. Holds Store leadership accountable for driving a selling experience that leverages the use of Integrated Retail tools. Proactively implements action plans to close gaps across the Consultative Salesforce.
• Operations - Guarantees Retail Excellence through consistent execution of all core processes and effectively executes store standards and Simple Store procedures. Utilizes available reporting to identify opportunities for improvement in store operations, shrink control and developing the business operating model.
• Operations - Ensures all stores maintain legal compliance requirements and are proactive in addressing issues that might arise.
• Operations - Assures that all Stores optimize Shop Your Way, credit, leasing, layaway and multi-channel opportunities, along with other miscellaneous income opportunities (such as Protection Agreements and Merchandise Replacement Agreements).
• Operations - Serves as a champion of social/digital technologies to build internal and external networks with thought leaders; remains on the cutting edge of the application of new technology to better enable work processes and solutions; educates store management teams on the value of new technology.
• People - Responsible for attracting, selecting, developing, and retaining strong store talent to improve business performance, in turn maintaining a strong leadership bench for succession planning across the district.
• People - Cultivates high performing teams through ongoing performance management. Partners with regional team and store leadership teams to develop high potential leaders of the future and participate in development of associates through talent programs such as GEM.

Education Experience: Bachelor's Level Degree
