The Technical Program Manager drives the execution of software projects within, across, and including the Online Business Unit. This position serves as Delivery Lead on software projects, assembles the project team (product manager, UX, engineering, and others) and drives the project forward. This position ensures excellent communications within and outside the project team; works to continuously update dates, scope, status, and documentation; proactively identifies and resolves issues (both technical and business); and ensures that the experience delivered by the software meets customer needs. Where projects involve BU funding, this position also manages the scoping and budgeting process.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

•Acts as a Delivery Lead on medium-sized standard projects with average complexity
•Assembles the team of product managers, User Experience (UX), engineering, QA and others to execute the software project
•Drives the process to ensure software is being developed that meets the customer need.
•Effectively applies Sears 4D methodology and enforces project standards to ensure that great software / experiences are rapidly developed
•Ensures great communications happens at all stages of the project – both within the team and with key stakeholders so that everyone understands project status
•Drives 4D reviews with the team and key stakeholders / users, with an emphasis on reviewing working code, to ensure that code development is on track
•Tracks the exact status of assigned projects at all stages
•Works with project team to continuously update dates, scope, status, and documentation so that the project and its status are well understood
•Demonstrates an understanding of the systems impacting assigned project, and proactively helps to identify and resolve technical dependencies and risks as well as influencing the design of projects
•Contributes business thinking to the project – understands and champions the end-user, and ensures the software meets associated needs
•Identifies and resolves issues early so that code gets developed as efficiently as possible. Where needed, brings in manager or others to resolve as soon as possible
•Where BU funding is needed, manages the process of scoping and budgeting for the effort toward getting a closed Statement of Work within two weeks of the project initiation

Job Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline: Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
•2-5 years of experience in e-commerce, consumer Internet, web services, or software planning & development.
•Ability to ensure bi-directional information and feedback across executives, departments/divisions, peers, and team members.
•Ability to manage through ambiguity and develop a course of action in complex situations.
•Ability to get quickly up to speed and understand system architecture & issues; identify and resolve technical dependencies and risks; and influence the design of projects.
•Ability to conduct business / data analysis to understand key user/consumer value drivers and contribute to business inputs on the project; think strategically/tactically; and exhibit excellent judgment in making trade-offs / resolving conflicts.

Preferred Skills:

•Ability to contribute API, UX, database schema, workflow or other designs to projects.
•Ability to contribute code to prototypes.
