Sears Holdings Corporation is hiring for a Tax Specialist o work in our Hoffman Estates, IL office. This position is analytical, clerical and large amount of data entry. The position is essentially split into two focuses: Income/Franchise Tax and the License Group. A successful candidate will have experience prior experience working with tax filings.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements for the Income/Franchise Tax Group (60%):
  • Maintain good standing of all SHC & SHOS legal entities by filing and paying annual reports & certain franchise taxes by due dates.
  • Respond to inquiries from states regarding tax filings.
  • Manage and monitor monthly tax calendar to ensure completeness and accuracy of tax filings due.
  • Reconcile monthly P-Card statement to annual report filings and submit expense report. Agree/reconcile amounts to general ledger.
  • Work with income/franchise tax staff to obtain information needed to file certain reports & franchise taxes.
  • Interface with Law Department regarding reporting requirements and ad hoc requests for details and information regarding filings.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements for the License Group (40%):
  • Management of monthly license calendar to confirm and monitor tax and license renewals
  • Maintenance of related documents, certificates, lists as needed to support the renewal of tax & license payments
  • Ensure the accuracy of information stored in LicenseHQ software, which includes unit data, corporate data, account data and payee data
  • Retrieve missing tax and license renewals – contact State and local jurisdictions as needed
  • Request checks for tax and license renewals to allow for mailing prior to due dates.
  • Mail returns and checks to jurisdictions prior to due dates.
  • File copies of returns and checks in unit file.
  • Copy and mail licenses received to units for posting in public view as required by law.
  • Maintain the storage of electronic and hard copy licenses according to company policy for document storage.
  • Perform general administrative duties: filing, faxing, scanning, copying, UPS Campus Ship and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • Tax Filings Experience, desired
  • Strong computer software skills (Excel, Word and Database management)
  • Knowledge of LicenseHQ software
  • Knowledge of hCue system
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
