JOB SUMMARY:
The Sears Home Services ServiceLIVE team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager with a strong engineering background in leading global teams and delivering in an Agile delivery model. ServeLIVE is both a B2C experience as well as a B2B2C platform where we manage a variety of services from delivery and installation to plumbing, electrical and HVAC work for a variety of companies. You understand the concept and power of a platform over an application. You will work directly with these external companies and internal business groups from the pre-sales process through solutioning, integration, pilot and full production rollouts as well as steady state support. You have a strong ability to evangelize the full product offerings and identify solutions to solve business problems. You have a strong background in building real-time API microservices layers and re-architecting traditional back-end systems into highly available, resilient and fast real-time API microservices running in AWS on Java technologies using common AWS development, delivery and monitoring tools. Addtionally, you will own IOS & Andriod mobile application as well as an eCommerce services website. You will directly lead and manage a global team of associates and contractors and ensure that the associates are highly engaged and have strong goals and development plans to continue to grow their skills. You love researching new technologies and capabilities within and outside of the company to solve critical business problems. You will work directly with a large pool of business product owners and ensure that their Agile stories are development ready for quick and efficient Agile delivery. Your solutions will include a buy vs. build analysis to ensure business and technology goals are met through fast delivery with the future roadmaps, supportability and a low cost footprint in mind. You will work with your leadership team to translate the organization and IT strategry into tangible action plans for maximum and sustainable short term and long term results.

Job Requirements

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the design of new applications and technology or is otherwise influential in the design efforts of other leaders through collaboration and participation in the discovery, documentation and validation designs before and during software development.
  • Manages end-to-end development of software and personnel for the eCommerce, B2B2C platform and Mobile applications and related technologies.
  • Ensures successful delivery of solutions in a global Agile delivery model and meets specifications, and creates little to no operational support overhead (for this team or others).
  • Ensures excellence and continuous improvement in delivery through a very repeatable process of test driven development, continuous integration, QA automation, performance automation (and benchmarking) and frequent deployment.
  • Collaborates with other managers and consistently and effectively communicates across the organization and up the leadership chain.
  • Leads design and/or code reviews. Drives initiatives for operational improvement and ensures team members do the same.
  • Establishes and monitors metrics of technical and business importance that are generated within assigned system and/or functional area.
  • Mentors individual contributor team members.
  • Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.
  • Designing and developing highly scalable and highly available enterprise solutions
  • Incorporating leading edge technology into our software products
  • Working with external companies in in all stages of the lifecycle from pre-sales through solutioning, delivery and steady state support.
  • Tracks, reports and continuously improves the team's sprint velocity

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Up to 25% travel

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Degree in Computer Science, a related technical or scientific field, or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in a role managing onshore and offshore teams
  • Experience delivering in an Agile delivery model
  • Expertise in continuous integration, test driven development, QA automation and performance testing
  • Experience with PCI and PII applications
  • Ability to work with Product Owners and external companies to understand requirements and coach others to write development ready Agile stories
  • Experience in tracking, reporting and continuously improving on your team's sprint velocity
  • Experience with responsive web development including mobile web sites
  • Expereince with iOS & Andriod mobile app development
  • Experience with Java, SpringBoot, Hibernate, Spring Microservices
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
  • Experience designing solutions with MySQL and other relational and no SQL databases
  • Expereince designing solutions with caching strategies
  • Experience with the AWS environment including services such as CodeDeploy, BeanStalk, AutoScaling, IAM, RDS, S3, EC2, Route53, CFT, etc.
  • Familiar with CI/CD pipeline, CodeShip/Code Deploy, Jenkins, etc.
  • Familiar with UI framework such as Angular JS
  • Familiar with JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Familiar with logging environments such as Papertrail, Splunk, etc.
  • Familiar with monitoring/incident management tools such as NewRelic, PagerDuty, CloudWatch, etc.
