The Sr Manager, Procurement is responsible for leading a team of Category Managers and/or Analysts sourcing multiple categories as defined by business needs. This positions defines commodity roadmap and runs major cross-department, cross-functional efforts involving various groups. In addition, this position may be responsible for planning and managing select strategic sourcing initiatives at the discretion of the Director, Director II or DVP, Procurement. This position continually hones sourcing and category expertise, applies that knowledge to every initiative, ensures that Company assets are leveraged for maximum benefit and develops, implements and effectively manages relevant supply bases to minimize cost while ensuring required service quality and supplier performance while providing thoughtful partnership to each business client.

Job Requirements

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops multiple category strategies to ensure maximum savings and efficiency across all categories for the company
• Manages a team of Category Managers and Procurement Analysts in assigned commodities.
• Independently develops opportunities and influences stakeholders regarding process improvements and innovative business solutions
• Maintains a superior understanding regarding service offerings, as well as emerging industry trends/product developments impacting the company's business lines and functions
• Works collaboratively with internal clients to assist in procurement forecasting, demand management, requirements development and identification of possible purchasing channels and sources
• Negotiates with suppliers on contracts and/or changes to existing contracts to obtain the best price for the required level of quality. • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with suppliers to maximize their value to SHC
• Ensures detailed documentation is developed, approved, and retained as required by Procurement to provide an audit trail of the decisions made and methods used to award business to suppliers
• Measures savings and seek opportunities to manage off-contract spend
• Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with business customers

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree
• 5-10 years of related experience
• 18 years of age or older

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
• 5-10 Years in management of procurement/strategic sourcing services role. Proven organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated accomplishments in negotiations and complex sourcing transactions.
• Understanding of concepts of supply chain and impact of sourcing to all cost drivers in supply chain.
• Superior knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology and approach combined with pragmatism and ability to apply situation specific approaches
• Excellent negotiating skills
• Effective time management skills and the ability to organize and direct the quality of his/her work amidst the demands of multiple projects and demanding clients
• Strong knowledge of contract fundamentals, ability to effectively interact with SHC legal counsel
• Ability to quickly gather and analyze data, and grasp customer requirements under time constraints in a changing environment.
• Excellent quantitative skills and technical aptitude: fluency in MS Excel, Word mandatory; Access, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project fluency a major plus as is working knowledge of e-Procurement systems; financial skills, including Should cost modeling and total cost of ownership
• Superior written and oral communications skills, including ability to develop and deliver effective presentations several levels up.
