The Industrial Engineer is responsible for supporting the logistics organization through a variety of projects focused on enhancing productivity, maximizing throughput and ensuring workplace safety. Provides Industrial Engineering support for Distribution Center operations.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains an accurate and effective Work Measurement System.
  • Ensures effective productivity measurements are established for identified functions in the distribution center through time studies and frequency studies conducted in the distribution center
  • Evaluates and subsequently revises all work methods and workflow for all functions to ensure they are ergonomically correct.
  • Trains management and hourly workforce on productivity and work methods.
  • Establishes and maintains “Best Methods” for all job functions.
  • Analyzes, recommends, and implements enhancements to existing work methods flows and processes to increase throughput.
  • Develops and designs distribution center and office area layouts.
  • Collects data to assist in the development of distribution center and capital budgets.
  • Analyzes and provides cost justification on all capital project requests.
  • Designs, selects and installs material handling equipment incorporated into existing, new and expanded distribution centers.
  • Researches technological advances in material handling systems to develop cost-effective improvements to operating methods and procedures to support purchase recommendations.
  • Works effectively with external resources (consultants and contractors) to ensure collaborative partnerships to meet business requirements.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in projects related to process design, work measurement, productivity improvement, cost reduction and project implementation
  • Excellent PC skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Industrial Engineering Degree (BSIE preferred)
  • Experience with work measurement methodologies and tools with an emphasis on time study expertise
  • Experience in best methods development
  • Experience with productivity tracking, data collection systems
  • Excellent planning, organization, and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact across a broad range of organizational levels and functions
  • Work Measurement experience
  • Understanding of Distribution Center (DC) environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
