The Head of Retail Kmart & Sears Retail is responsible for maximizing the financial performance of all retail locations while continuing to enhance the member experience both in stores and through online channels. Provides general management and oversight for Sears and Kmart retail locations which includes retail locations, corporate operations, sales, finance, construction and facilities teams. Responsible for executive level operational, financial, strategic and strategic leadership to field leadership through plans, policies, practices and relationships. Provides thought leadership and partners with business leaders throughout the company to bring SHC vision to life.

Job Requirements

  • Integrates retail strategies with those of the Business Units and Centers of Excellence to develop long-range plans, and more detailed annual plans for implementation by the team. Partners to ensure focus on creating an innovative and enticing store environment as a part of long-range planning.
  • Focuses on profitability across retail, providing oversight of financial plans and results to enhance and build shareholder value. Drives analysis of opportunities and actions with the retail leadership team, and leads financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting and expense controls.
  • Leads the development of operational, merchandising and selling strategies to realize annual plans by aligning actions and resources, and responding for continued progress. Ensures the team is partnering with the Business Units to optimize merchandising approaches overall, and optimizing operational and labor processes for improved efficiency.
  • Work closely with the holding company board and the leadership of other business units in shaping strategy and executing tactics for retail services.
  • Identify, define and capitalize on consumer and customer base. Where appropriate, determine new categories appropriate to each retail format. Set national standards for all in-store programs and develop programs that cause the formats to come alive and become relevant to our member base.
  • Attracts, leads, grows and retains a strong team that provides leadership to the corporate and field-based associates supporting retail. Ensures the team leads by example with a focus on business partnership, member service, and profitable growth. Sets expectations for their demonstration of leadership and talent management, leads talent pipeline planning, and personally engages in leadership talent development.
