Job Purpose:

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall financial performance, customer service, and associate morale of the unit. The GM directly manages a staff of an Assistant General Manager (AGM) and hourly associates. Number of associates depends on local market and seasonal volumes. The GM ensures that corporate programs and policies are executed in a way that minimizes Cost Per Piece, while driving outstanding customer service, associate productivity. The GM is also accountable for maintaining a safe work environment for all associates. This position is responsible for the implementation and administration of both company and facility strategies and programs within the assigned facility. The General Manager reports to the Director-Parts and assists the National Operations Manager -Parts Distribution in developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures, in accordance with ISO 9001, that will provide high quality distribution at a competitive cost. Monitor the implementation of and continued compliance of the standardized processes in the order filling, shipping and receiving departments. Support a total quality management program throughout the facility.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all expense controls within the facility are in place and adhered to by all departments.
• Improve quality to drive optimum cost, service performance, and quality culture.
• Promote safety in work processes and associate performance by supporting company and/or facility safety programs, educating associates, and ensuring a generally safe work environment.
• Analyze and prepare monthly and annual plan and pattern reports and payroll budgets; ensure plan, pattern, and budget commitments are satisfied.
• Assure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Participate in the implementation and on-going management of the performance review process for all associates--assistant managers, leads, and non-exempt associates.
• Monitor and promote high standards of ethical, civil awareness and conduct through education and consistent enforcement.
• Develop assistant managers, leads, and all non-exempt associates.
• Ensure department quality and productivity standards are met through training, performance management, and associates rewards and recognition
• Communicate on a daily basis with management staff, associates, and customers.
• Establish effective allocation of resources and meet priorities.
• Complete special projects as assigned by the operations manager and/or store support.
• Provide leadership and training in the areas of associate development, recruitment, and retention
• Develop, communicate, and execute facility goals, standards, plans, and objectives.
• Continually evaluate facility processes and infrastructure to improve operating performance of the unit, or to avoid service/capacity issues. (Submit capital/facility improvement requests where appropriate.) • Ensure accurate inventory control through monitoring daily cycle count results.
• Responsible for the high quality, cost effective performance of the operational/execution portion of the unit
• Execute standardization processes and procedures to ensure achievement of cost and service goals/objectives, while adhering to company policies and standards
• Provide leadership and support to distribution center associates; includes salaried and hourly associates.
• Complete and participate in the performance review process for distribution center associates. Provide support for ongoing performance management
• Manage the unit P&L (NAI financial ledgers) for the unit; ensure regular markdowns/markups consistent with PRS financial processes.

• Understanding of the National Parts Network (NPN)/National Parts System (NPS) systems.
• Sound understanding of inventory control and the impact on facility performance and overall Sears performance
• Solid understanding of Good Warehousing Practices.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Sound understanding of transportation practices and cost drivers.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment usage and related preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge in loss prevention, safety, and OSHA policies and procedures
