JOB SUMMARY:
The Fitness Lead is responsible for enhancing the customer experience, developing customer relationships and driving profitable Fitness sales by providing proactive support to customers and associates, assisting the Home Improvement (HI) Assistant Store Manager with scheduling, coaching, training, supervising and selecting of the Fitness Consultative Sales Associates, as well as maintaining a personal contribution to the department s sales and profit goals.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs Fitness Consultative Sales Associate job duties
• Supports the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager in developing a high performance team by assisting in the scheduling, training, coaching and supervision of Fitness consultative selling associates as directed, with a focus on building the skills required to sell total solutions, resolve customer issues, enhance profitability of sales and develop customer relationships
• Participates in ongoing recruitment and interviews with job applicants and provides input to the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager during the selection process
• Observes consultative sales associates' interactions with customers to help identify areas in which the associates would benefit from training and coaching
• Leads by example by interacting with customers to discover their needs and then selling products and services that provide customers with complete solutions
• Understands website navigation and proactively leverages technology in order to facilitate the customer experience
• Provides Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager with feedback and assists the Manager in developing action plans, supporting monthly coaching sessions and providing training and coaching for consultative sales associates to address sales performance, reduce sales-related expenses and optimize sales of accessories, Protection Agreements, Credit and other products and services that can enhance customer satisfaction
• Ensures optimization of credit, gift card, Shop Your Way Rewards, multi-channel, Protection Agreement, Sears Purchase Protect and other miscellaneous income opportunities
• Ensures execution of Company merchandising strategies, goals and standards, and coordinates promotional events to meet the business needs of the store, customer and local market
• Accompanies the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager during the weekly business review to assist in identifying areas of opportunity and developing action plans for improving the department s performance

Job Requirements

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (CONT.):
• Understands, identifies, and informs store and district staff of competitive activities, market trends and unique local market issues
• Assists the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager in developing and communicating recommendations regarding assortment levels, inventory levels and product offerings, as well as local sales, marketing and community outreach opportunities to the Sporting Goods buying staff
• Ensures that equipment is in working order and coordinates repair with vendor contacts
• Assists the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager as directed with communications to associates about upcoming events, product updates, selling process requirements and Company/business initiatives
• Assists in resolving customer issues and complaints escalates issues to the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager as necessary
• Fosters a team environment
• Performs limited store opening and closing activities, when needed
• Performs supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to: making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting, and terminating; conducting performance appraisals; and coaching and developing associates
• Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Strong knowledge of Fitness products and trends
• Knowledge of supervising business operations in retail setting
• Ability to assist in leading, coaching and developing a team of associates
• Ability to form strong partnerships and communicate well with store team members
• Ability to demonstrate product features/benefits and communicate clearly to customers
• Ability to identify issues and recommend business solutions to the Home Improvement Assistant Store Manager
• Ability to use email and attachments, Internet/Intranet and computer systems to access, input, modify or print information or to execute moderately complex programs or analyses

PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Four-year college degree
• Personal Trainer certification
• Successful personal sales and profit performance
• Prior experience related to coaching, training and supervising

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of related experience
• 18 years of age or older
