The Corporate Accounting Team is looking for a Director – Technical Accounting to lead accounting research and provide technical counsel and support to the company. Focus is on understanding accounting and reporting implications for significant, complex or uncommon transactions, as well as understanding ramifications of new accounting and reporting requirements. Will also assist with managing the preparation and distribution of financial statements for the company. Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities:
  • Be the Company's technical expert on all accounting research, including both private company and SEC disclosure matters
  • Perform primary research on technical accounting topics in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the United Sates
  • Consultation and resolution of technical accounting matters arising from the business units and service lines across all business segments. Significant areas of ad hoc technical accounting research include, but are not limited to, revenue recognition, real estate sales, sale leaseback transactions, lease accounting and business combinations.
  • Assist with completion of significant transactions (i.e., spin-offs, rights offerings, and sale-leaseback transactions), including research of technical accounting implications, preparation and review of related filings and managing the preparation, review and audit of carve-out financial statements.
  • Actively follow new accounting and reporting standards, and analyze and research new and emerging accounting requirements and their likely impact on the Company's financial statements, including ASC 842
  • Consult with external auditors and write technical accounting memos to support the Company's accounting positions and conclusions
  • Development of accounting policies and leadership of internal communications, training and implementation relative to developments in US GAAP.
  • Assist in preparation and review of annual reports. Review the Company's financial statements and footnotes for compliance with US GAAP.
  • Provide support to external auditors during audits.
  • Lead the quarterly / annual impairment assessment of intangible and other long-lived assets.
  • Lead and manage other special accounting projects, as needed

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, required
  • CPA, required
  • 8-10 years accounting and financial reporting knowledge and experience – including recent public accounting experience
  • Must be current with respect to knowledge of accounting and reporting issues (FASB, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to understand complex accounting rules as well as business structures and transactions
  • A high level of communication skills (oral and written) are necessary to communicate complex accounting issues to non-accounting personnel in an understandable, efficient manner
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and projects
  • Ability to produce high quality results under strict deadlines
