Our San Francisco Apparel office is looking for a Designer for Menswear. The ideal candidate will design the Menswear assortment for Sears and Kmart. They will be responsible for managing the design process from conception to final prototype for assigned product(s). The designer will report to the Design Director.

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities:
  • Fully responsible for entire product design process to include market research, mood board creation, designing, sketching and fit.
  • Responsible for researching global markets in order to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques, etc.
  • Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action).
  • Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.
  • Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentation.
  • Ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy.
  • Provides direction for graphics, plaids and prints.
  • Responsible for silhouette, color, print and pattern, fabric and trim selection.
  • Meets independently with vendors.
  • Works with technical designer to ensure product packages are accurate and complete.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Fashion Design or a related field
  • At least 3 – 4 years of design experience in a corporate or agency setting
  • Strong computer knowledge; Extensive experience with Adobe Suite
  • The ability to learn how to design through new/advanced technology (e.g., on-line sketching program).
  • Strong design and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to design around concepts.
  • Strong sense of style and color.
  • Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color ways, sewing techniques, graphics and trim.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills
  • Good understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment.
