This role is a member of Transform Holdco’s Corporate Communications team. The team supports corporate and consumer public relations, and internal communications for the company. The Director, Corporate Communications, is responsible for the development and execution of internal communication strategies to all associates.

Job Requirements

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Counsels executive leadership on their communication strategies to all associates. Provides executives with communications guidance on complex, sensitive and business-critical issues.
  • Supports numerous business unit leaders on communication plans, writing, editing, managing approvals and distributing their communications to associates using a variety of channels including HTML email, intranet postings, podcasts, videos and internal social networking. Identifies opportunities to connect company news with Sears or Kmart's social media posts so associates can share with their networks.
  • Leads the team's planning to identify overarching communication goals, objectives, tactics and key messages to support associate engagement and the company's narrative.
  • Identifies storytelling opportunities for the company's blog and routinely contributes to the blog with original content.
  • Serves as the lead planner for the company's Town Hall meetings for all associates.
  • Interacts with Consumer PR team to collaborate on messaging for associates related to good news, events, promotions or products.
  • Frequently interacts with the Director, Public Relations to stay connected on key message development, company issues, media responses and media interviews.
  • Leads the team's annual communication survey to measure effectiveness and makes recommendations to implement new strategies and tactics based on survey results.
  • Provides back-up support to the Director, Public Relations when needed.
  • Manages three direct reports.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Arts, English or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in Corporate Communications in private or public sectors covering organizational communications, PR or marketing communications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • A basic proficiency in HTML and CSS is desirable. Experience in Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Experience using a content management system (WordPress, ExpressionEngine or Drupal) to manage content on web sites like intranets or blogs.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Previous communications experience in a corporate environment.
