The Manager, Benefits must have a depth of knowledge in benefit administration which includes; annual enrollment, health & welfare, statements of work, negotiating contracts, compliance with state & federal regulations, COBRA, statutory FMLA and vendor RFPs.

Individuals with superior communication skills and a history of successful interactions with the employee population, vendors and senior leadership will bode well in this role. Experience managing others to ensure a high functioning team is critical.

Job Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as expert Benefits communicator and administrator as well as benefits strategy team member.
• Ensures that the Stock Purchase and Employee Assistance plans are administered consistently, efficiently and in accordance with the formal plan documents and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Reviews external trends in plan design and administration; work with the strategy team to provide recommendations to improve cost-effectiveness and competitiveness of the SHC's benefits offerings.
• Oversees relationships with multiple external vendors, ensuring adherence to established performance standards.
• Participates in benefits-related employer coalition strategy and administration meetings.
• Manages all aspects including drafting and distribution of all company benefits communications.
• Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of 7-10 years benefits experience with mid-sized or large multi-state employers
• Experience with administration of health and welfare plans, defined benefit pension plans and 401(k) plans
• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to employee benefits, including ERISA, PPA, PPACA, HIPAA and COBRA
• Broad familiarity with benefits providers
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to handle multiple priorities
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Project management skills
• Demonstrated ability to partner and communicate with senior leadership
