The Online Business Unit of Sears is dedicated to innovating how we deliver end-to-end promotions + campaigns, driving relevant content and personalized shopping for sears.com, kmart.com and mobile apps. IMX’s online team is looking for an exceptional Art Director to help lead + optimize our online + mobile shopping experiences.

The Art Director is involved at the inception of a project or program within User Experience to ensure that executional as well as strategic visual design direction and decisions are considered, and consistent, with the style guide of the User Experience Group, the Online Business Unit, Clients and any and all Partners or Properties of Sears Holdings Inc. This position works within a methodology dictated by the project, program or team and partners with any or all discipline members to complete the project on time, on budget and on brand.

Job Requirements

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

•Confers with clients to understand: the project background; business and marketing objectives; presentation and documentation delivery; and success metrics
•Leads the effort to translate established creative direction into conceptual ideas and creative solutions that are unique, strategic, and award winning. This work should “WOW“ the client.
•Interfaces with Product Management in the creation of creative briefs and/or product requirements that translates business objectives into actionable creative ideas and concepts for execution.
•Plans and directs many aspects of assigned projects to ensure that the projects schedule and deadlines are met.
•Creates and presents concepts to internal and external stakeholders for approval to move forward.
•Manages creative activities with the full project team to align with the activities of other disciplines.
•Provides feedback in design reviews at every stage in the process and effectively communicates design solutions to clients and senior leadership to seek client approval to move the project forward.
•Creates, adopts and supports design guidelines and standards, ensuring creative conforms to standards and specifications of the brand and website.
•Builds and maintains a rapport with clients, partner agencies, photo studios and extended team.
•Mentors and leads junior creative staff, ensuring availability to critique work.
•Concepts and creates design solutions for new-business development efforts.
•Performs supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing associates.

Job Requirements:

•BS/BA/BFA/ degree in related field required or equivalent professional work related experience.
•8+ years related professional experience
•Must have the ability to anticipate problems and react appropriately
•Must be able to work well under pressure and time constraints
•Must possess a strong team-orientation
•Solid strategic and tactical instincts
•Ability to present and sell to the client
•Travel may be required between Chicago and NW Suburbs
•Expertise in Adobe Creative suite
