Position: Software Development Engineer Test III (Hoffman Estates, Illinois). Telecommute benefit available. Qualified applicants may work anywhere in the United States from a home office and report to Headquarters in Hoffman Estates, IL

Duties: Perform software testing for web-based, mobile, tablet, and client-server applications. Define testing methodologies, design performance test plans and test cases, and verify and validate application software and web services. Conduct performance, stress, load, endurance, and database testing. Identify performance-critical transactions and conduct performance test planning, scoping, and resource estimation. Deliver results for test implementation and infrastructure. Deliver code that meets testing specifications. Define testing parameters and key SLAs. Deliver results for troubleshooting client-side performance issues using third-party monitoring solutions (i.e Catchpoint, Gomez, and Webpage-test). Analyze and identify performance bottlenecks in the application system and provide recommendations on problem prioritization and follow-up testing strategies. Monitor and manage application performance parameters and analyze application behavior, including the full transactional trace and capturing user session information, method arguments, return values, log messages, and exception details. Create self-documenting designs and/or clearly communicate intent via comments in code. Implement test plans to validate test data from small to extremely large-scale data volumes on a range of RDBMS, including DB2, and create audit scripts for data validations. Document workflows and business analysis results. Follow formal test architectures and project processes to provide the necessary technical artifacts and assertive test exit criteria. Coordinate activities with the Enterprise Architecture group to establish test governance, patterns, and anti-patterns for data abstraction and distribution. Mentor Associate Test Engineers. Work with team to translate business requirements/use cases into test scripts following an accelerated delivery model. Conduct system tests to ensure smooth integration, track testing activities, and complete daily reports, including traceability matrices. Develop and automate test cases. Communicate issues impacting code release and coordinate with partner teams, including Development, Business, Release, and Deployment by presenting targeted QA Project management dates. Test and monitor online site functionality using site catalyst tools and application performance tools.

Job Requirements

Requirements: Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Applications, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience conducting performance testing, endurance testing, and Real User Monitoring for web-based, mobile, tablet, and client-server applications. Or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Applications, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience conducting performance testing, endurance testing, and Real User Monitoring for web-based, mobile, tablet, and client-server applications.
Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) using load testing tools for HTTP load generation (SOASTA CloudTest, LoadRunner/Performance Center, JMeter) and conducting scripting using Javascripts and Selenium Web Driver for web-based, mobile wireless application protocol (applications), and tablet applications; DE performing enterprise setup, administration, and maintenance of Soasta CloudTest and Loadrunner; DE analyzing performance metrics using web monitoring tools (Webpage test, Catchpoint and Gomez APM) and using XML, DHTML, Web Services, REST, Java, J2EE, Perl, IBM WebSphere, UNIX, and DB2 for developing test scripts to test web and mobile applications; and DE conducting performance monitoring, problem analysis, and troubleshooting using Graphite, Dash, Dynatrace, and Splunk
