The Manager, Business Analytics is responsible for data analysis of business initiative performance and supports production of key weekly/monthly reporting packages that the GBU (Group Business Unit) Leadership Team rely on to monitor that business initiatives are progressing to plan. This position analyzes and gathers information to test hypotheses for business cases and ongoing initiatives. This position also performs research informing GBU’s market (member and non-member), competitive, and shopper trends.

Job Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and Operates KPI performance dashboards for focus markets, best stores, best shopper cohorts. Builds weekly & monthly report that feed into recurring Executive Updates. Works with associates at all functional levels to ensure financial and operational dashboards are synced to provide a clear representation of business unit, marketing/promotional and initiative performance.
  • Supports process for GBU to better understand local members and local markets. Performs analyses by store related to market share, competition, member vs. unidentified member performance, trip performance, basket composition and demographics. Performs “deep dive” analyses on key stores and markets that have growth potential or attrition mitigation potential. Works with finance/marketing counterparts and member of the leadership team to test hypotheses on shopping patterns of engaged members including purchase behavior, trip frequency, basket size, etc.
  • Assists with the development of new business models and innovative offerings as well as the planning and execution of key strategic initiatives. These may include new product offerings, distributor-partnerships, convenience-type small format stores, customer experiences (e.g. eCommerce/mobile experiences, mobile/social app payment options, subscriptions), and promotional strategies.
  • Researches market, competitive, and shopper trends to monitor competing drug, mass, dollar stores, pharmacy, & warehouse club companies' business results, lines of business, and evolving growth strategies. Supplies leadership with facts and insights derived from trade news sources, quarterly earnings results and analyst day presentations.
  • Provides support to and works closely with cross-functional teams for key ad-hoc / unplanned special projects initiated by Grocery, Drugstore, Toys, Sporting Goods and Seasonal teams.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Bachelor's Level Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field of study.
  • 3-4 years of experience in Fortune 100 business strategy, consulting, or analysis roles
  • Experience developing business cases with financial models & implementation plans
  • Familiarity with retail concepts such as merchandising, stores, loyalty, and marketing.
  • Able to interpret data, its opportunities and come up with strategic outcomes, recommendation for Merchandising, Marketing, & Product teams
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Google Analytics, Google Sheets/Slides, and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Assists in developing the strategic data integration direction and roadmap
  • Presents reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Identifies project changes and modifications to achieve project deliverables
